Drilling began about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

With flood lights in place and an RV on site, we realized they were going to drill all night.

Our bedroom is in the back of the house, closest to this loud, industrial horror, so James and I spent the night in the front room to stay away from both sounds and potential fumes.  At this point, the fumes seem to be coming from the diesel trucks used to power the drilling rig.  Seems like they connect a PTO from the truck to the rig to power up and rev the gas to give the rig power.  That's where the noise comes from mainly.

Industrial lights in our rural back yard. Very sad.

Timelapse of drilling & fracking a well

Man Camps Texas Style
(Not near my house, thank goodness)

These are random photos from a drive south of my house in the Eagle Ford Shale.

These are examples of motels by the month that are popping up in addition to all the formal and informal RV parks.

250 feet from my back yard. April/May 2014

The following are photos of the transformation of the field next door. The operation is probably 250 feet from my back porch.

This is what the field looked like with bluebonnets in bloom, just 6 weeks ago.

After centuries of raising cows, and providing hospitality to birds, bunnies, and deer, someone took an interest in spending thousands of dollars to tear up the land to make a drilling pad.

My peace and quite has been disturbed, my picturesque view is gone.

No one ever notified me this was going to happen.  60 acres leased and they couldn't have put this any closer to my house.  If they hit oil/gas, they will put in oil holding tanks.

Today they are staging to do the big drilling, going down as much as 3,000 vertical feet.  The well permit says Vertical.  Hydrogen sulfide field.  Toxic fumes they will have to monitor.  The well is right in the path of prevailing winds to my house.

I'm not happy.
